Tile Care & Maintenance

Preventative Tile Maintenance

Tile is a very durable and low-maintenance flooring option for your home. By establishing a care routine and keeping at it over the years, you can help to prolong the lifespan of your tile flooring.

For tile, sweeping and the occasional wet mopping will go a long way in ensuring that your floors look great and age well. When you sweep, you help to remove dirt and other debris from your tile and the grouting. This debris can cause a weathered and lackluster appearance and could even scratch your floors. The amount of required sweeping will depend on how busy the room is. When/if you mop, do not be careful not to use too much water as it could harm your floors.

Grouting can be cleaned using a toothbrush and a mixture of baking soda, dish soap, and water.

Dealing With Tile Spills & Stains

Tile floors are tough on spills and stains!

When and/or if you have a spill on your tile floors, so long as you address it immediately, there is no major cause for concern. Wipe up the spill after the accident to avoid lingering damage to your tile or the grouting.

For solid messes, you can sweep up the mess with a broom.

One of the major appeals of tile is its durability and lack of maintenance.
